Regular Season Round 16: Virum - Horsholm 59-70

Date: February 3, 2017
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Virum (11-2) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Horsholm (10-3) 70-59. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Virum. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Horsholm. Virum managed to win third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Line Piechnik (171-90) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Horsholm players scored in double figures. Horsholm's coach Jesper Krone Rasmussen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Valerie Driscoll (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 18 rebounds and forward Nikoline Oestergaard (183-92, college: Quinnipiac) added 16 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) in the effort for Virum. Horsholm have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-3 record behind leader Virum. Defending champion Virum still keeps top place with two games lost. Horsholm are looking forward to face Stevnsgade (#5) at home in the next round. Virum will play against SISU (#6) in Copenhagen and is hoping to win this game.
