Regular Season Round 12: Tavriyska Zirka - Interkhim 47-85

Bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zivka (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-47 loss to third ranked Interkhim (11-3) in Kherson on Friday evening. The game without a history. Interkhim led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Tavriyska Zivka to an opponent 22.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Tavriyska Zivka 49-30 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Interkhim looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Tavriyska Zivka's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Interkhim made 10 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of center Mariia Kovtun (198-92, college: Texas Woman's) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and center Kristina Karp (196-98) who added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Interkhim players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Daria Shtura (174-94) with 16 points and swingman Mariya Tkach (180-92) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Tavriyska Zivka's coach Oleksiy Davidov gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Interkhim have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 11-3 record having four points less than leader Avangard. Loser Tavriyska Zivka still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Interkhim will meet at home league's second-placed Tim-Scuf in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tavriyska Zivka will play against DVUFK (#8) in Dnepropetrovsk and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
