Regular Season Round 22: Duzce Bld. - Turk Telekom 76-75

A very close game took place in Duzce between Duzce Belediye and Turk Telekom. Fifteenth ranked Duzce Belediye (7-15) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Turk Telekom (11-11). Duzce Belediye managed to escape with a 1-point win 76-75 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Duzce Belediye forced 20 Turk Telekom turnovers. American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (183-87, college: Wisconsin) notched 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and power forward Omer Tayfun Karabey (201-88) supported him with 15 points. Duzce Belediye's coach Timucin Meric used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) did not help to save the game for Turk Telekom. His fellow American import center Gene Teague (206-89, college: Seton Hall, agency: HMS) added 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Duzce Belediye moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Pertevniyal and Gelisim. Loser Turk Telekom keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Bandirma Kir.. Duzce Belediye will meet league's second-placed Eskisehir Basket in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Turk Telekom will play against Bandirma Kir. (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
