Very predictable result in Balikesir where third ranked Edremit (19-4) beat 8th ranked Elazig (14-9) 75-70 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Edremit forced 24 Elazig turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Elazig was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Danaejah Grant (175-94, college: St.John's) who scored 26 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Forward Betul Pehlivan (178-88, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 23 points. American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest, agency: Gamble Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Tugba Gonen (170-90) added 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Edremit moved-up to second place, which they share with Ormanspor. Loser Elazig keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Edremit will face Cankaya (#5) in Ankara in the next round. Elazig will play at home against Ferko Ilgaz and hope to win that game.
