Regular Season Round 16: Herner - Halle 82-68

Date: February 4, 2017
There was no surprise when 7th ranked SV Halle Lions (6-9) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Herner TC (9-7) 82-68. The game without a history. Herner TC led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The winners were led by international swingman Ireti Amojo (176-90, college: Washington St.) who scored that evening 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American center Camille Mahlknecht (190-93, college: CS Northridge) supported her with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Sarah Hammond (188-93, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for SV Halle Lions. Her fellow American import point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) added 14 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Herner TC moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Marburg. SV Halle Lions at the other side dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Herner TC's next round opponent will be higher ranked TV Saarlouis Royals (#3) on the road and it may be the game of the week. SV Halle Lions will play against the league's leader Gruner Stern Keltern (#1) and hope to win that game.
