Regular Season Round 19: Bayreuth II - Zwickau 111-116

Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Bayreuth 2 (2-16) lost at home to eleventh ranked Zwickau (6-12) 116-111 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Zwickau especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Bayreuth 2 was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Hendrik Bellscheidt (193-90) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds. Romanian-Moldovan swingman Alexei Andrus (195-79) contributed with 26 points and 6 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners. Zwickau's coach Stephan Wolf allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Montigo Alford (175, college: Boise St.) answered with 50 points (!!!) and 5 assists and Moritz Trieb (190-98) added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Bayreuth 2. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Zwickau maintains eleventh place in South-East with 6-12 record. Loser Bayreuth 2 keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Zwickau will face higher ranked Oberhaching (#6) in Deisenhofen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayreuth 2 will play on the road against TSV Troester (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
