Regular Season Round 18: Dragons - Wuerzburg 84-77

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Dragons Rhoendorf and 9th ranked Wuerzburg had identical 7-10 record. This time Dragons Rhoendorf used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Wuerzburg 84-77 on Saturday night. Dragons Rhoendorf forced 21 Wuerzburg turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Florian Wendeler (205-93) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Canadian forward Mike Lucier (201-92, college: Lambton) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Lukas Wank (198-97) who recorded 17 points and 6 rebounds and center Georg Voigtmann (213-94) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Dragons Rhoendorf and four Wuerzburg players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dragons Rhoendorf (8-10) moved-up to seventh place in South. Loser Wuerzburg dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Licher Baeren. Dragons Rhoendorf will meet Giants (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Wuerzburg will play against Fraport Skyliners II (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
