Regular Season Round 22: Dzukija - Neptunas 66-69

Eighth-ranked Dzukija (6-16) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Neptunas (12-10) in Alytus on Saturday. The visitors from Klaipeda managed to secure only three-point victory 69-66. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 27-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jamaican-American forward Omari Johnson (206-89, college: Oregon St.) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Karolis Guscikas (205-92, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and forward Julius Kazakauskas (197-90) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Dzukija. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Neptunas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-10 record, which they share with Juventus. Dzukija lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 16 games lost. Neptunas is looking forward to face Juventus (#5) in Utena in the next round. Dzukija will play on the road against the league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
