Regular Season Round 23: 55 Genclik - Mersin Univ. 56-75

Bottom-ranked 55 Genclik (0-23) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 75-56 loss to seventh ranked Mersin Uni (16-7) in Samsun on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to 55 Genclik's 26. They outrebounded 55 Genclik 50-25 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mersin Uni looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Ozge Karatas (-96) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Power forward Betul Gulec (183-97) helped adding 14 points and 13 rebounds. Four Mersin Uni players scored in double figures. Ecrin Kose (-97) responded with 15 points, 5 assists and 5 steals and Sukran Parlak scored 13 points. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Mersin Uni. They maintain seventh place with 16-7 record. 55 Genclik lost their twenty third game in a row. They still close the standings. Mersin Uni will meet at home higher ranked Bodrum (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. 55 Genclik will play against Edirne (#14) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
