There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (7-8) was outplayed on the road by ninth ranked Keltern II (4-11) 85-63 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 49-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Keltern II outrebounded Speyer / Schifferstadt 31-19 including 20 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Linn Schuler who helped to win the game recording 23 points and American power forward Kristi Mokube (188-93, college: George Mason) who added 20 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Uta Gelbke (177-86) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian forward Kathryn Verboom (179-86) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Speyer / Schifferstadt players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Keltern II maintains ninth position in South with 4-11 record. Loser Speyer / Schifferstadt dropped to the seventh place with eight games lost. Keltern II will face ASC Theresianum Mainz (#11) on the road in the next round.
