Regular Season Round 19: Speyer - Koblenz 83-77

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Speyer and 3rd placed Koblenz had identical 11-6 record. This time Speyer used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Koblenz 83-77 on Saturday night. Speyer made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Speyer especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a very good performance for Spanish point guard Jordi Salto (190-90) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. American center Khobi Williamson (201-92, college: Hampden-Sydney) contributed with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. British Louis Sayers (199-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and Croatian point guard Zeljko Novak (184-89) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Koblenz. Four Koblenz players scored in double figures. Speyer (12-6) moved-up to third place in South-West. Loser Koblenz dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Speyer will face Mainz (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Koblenz will play against the league's leader BV Villingen-Schwenningen (#1) and hope to win that game.
