Regular Season Round 23: Bodrum - Cankaya 68-77

The biggest surprise of round 23 in TKBL was guest Cankaya's (17-5) road victory over 5th ranked Bodrum (16-6) 77-68 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bodrum. Cankaya forced 25 Bodrum turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Bodrum helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Hande Celebi (-90) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. American-Azerbaijani center Marcedes Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Shay Selby (175-90, college: Duke) produced 24 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the former international swingman Nihan Anaz (172-79, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Cankaya have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Bodrum dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Cankaya are looking forward to face higher ranked Edremit (#3) in Balikesir in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bodrum will play on the road against Mersin Uni and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
