Regular Season Round 19: Coburg - Vilsbiburg 85-79

Date: February 5, 2017
There was no surprise when 5th ranked Vilsbiburg (11-7) lost on the road to first ranked Coburg (15-1) 85-79 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Coburg outrebounded Vilsbiburg 48-30 including a 42-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for forward Fabian Franke (198-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. American forward Jordan Burris (201-92, college: CS San Bernar.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Coburg players scored in double figures. American-Czech point guard John Boyer (185-88, college: Buffalo, agency: Dynamics Global Management) answered with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and American swingman Kendall Timmons (195-90, college: Tulane) added 24 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Vilsbiburg. The victory was the fourteenth consecutive win for Coburg. Newly promoted Coburg maintains first place in South-East with 15-1 record. Vilsbiburg lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Coburg will face Ansbach (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vilsbiburg will play against Bad Aibling (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
