Regular Season Round 17: Horsholm - Stevnsgade 72-59

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Stevnsgade (5-10) was defeated on the road by second ranked Horsholm (11-3) 72-59 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Horsholm. Stevnsgade managed to win second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Horsholm dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Stevnsgade's 32. Horsholm forced 25 Stevnsgade turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including 26 on the defensive glass. American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) stepped up and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Serbian forward Ivana Jovanovic (185-85) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Horsholm's coach Jesper Krone Rasmussen used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Ida Pretzmann (178-90, college: TCU) responded with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Cherelle Moore (183-93, college: Hartford) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Horsholm have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-3 record behind leader Virum. Stevnsgade at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Horsholm are looking forward to face SISU (#6) in Copenhagen in the next round. Stevnsgade will play at home against Lemvig and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
