Regular Season Round 27: Dnipro - Cherkasy 76-67
Date: February 10, 2017
There was no surprise in Dnepropetrovsk where 5th ranked Cherkasy (10-12) was defeated by third ranked Dnipro (18-6) 76-67. It looked good early as Cherkasy took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Dnipro had a 24-11 second period charge getting the lead and Cherkasy was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-76. Cherkasy was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (202-89, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. International Olexandr Mishula (192-92) contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Oleksandr Kolchenko (195-88, agency: AproK Sports Group) answered with 22 points and 4 assists and American forward Stacy Davis (198-94, college: Pepperdine) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Cherkasy. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Dnipro. They maintain third place with 18-6 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Khimik. Cherkasy at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. Dnipro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cherkasy will play on the road against Zaporizhya (#7) in Zaporozhye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
