Regular Season Round 24: Cankaya - Edremit 90-82

The most important game in the last round took place in Ankara between third ranked Edremit (19-5) and fifth ranked Cankaya (18-5) on Friday night. Edremit was defeated by Cankaya in a tough game on the road 82-90. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Edremit. Cankaya forced 25 Edremit turnovers. Strangely Edremit outrebounded Cankaya 42-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Edremit helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American-Azerbaijani center Marcedes-Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Hande Celebi (-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Four Cankaya players scored in double figures. American guard Danaejah Grant (175-94, college: St.John's) replied with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Saynur Tozlu (189-86) added 8 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Edremit. Cankaya have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Edremit at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Cankaya are looking forward to face Ferko Ilgaz (#12) in Kastamonu in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Edremit will play at home against Mersin Uni (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
