Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Wasserburg II (2-13) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Rhein Main Baskets (9-6) 67-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rhein Main Baskets. Wasserburg II was better in second period 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Lyndi Laborn who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (180-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Four Rhein Main Baskets players scored in double figures. American point guard Cassie Peoples (168-92, college: Florida) produced 24 points and center Anna Heise (190-93, college: Maine) added 12 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Wasserburg II's coach Wanda Guyton tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Rhein Main Baskets. They maintain fifth place in South with 9-6 record. Wasserburg II lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Rhein Main Baskets will face higher ranked Homburger TG (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wasserburg II will play against Weiterstadt (#6) and hope to win that game.
