Second Stage Round 10: KTU - Petrochema 70-62

There was no surprise in Kaunas where 14th ranked Petrochema (8-27) was defeated by twelfth ranked KTU (13-21) 70-62. Petrochema was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 38-29 second half run of KTU. They made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. KTU outrebounded Petrochema 30-17 including 24 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Deividas Poguzinskas (203-95, college: High School) notched 20 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and power forward Airidas Giedraitis (197-95) supported him with 17 points. KTU's coach Vytautas Pliauga allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 13 points by point guard Lukas Grabauskas (192-95) did not help to save the game for Petrochema. Forward Mykolas Dieninis (197-97) added 15 points for lost side. Four Petrochema players scored in double figures. KTU moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Mazeikiai. Petrochema lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. KTU's next round opponent will be higher ranked Delikatesas (#10) in Joniskis and it may be quite challenging game. Petrochema will play at home against Zalgiris II (#8) and hope to win that game.
