Regular Season Round 23: Lietkabelis - Vytautas 63-69

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Lietkabelis (17-6) against sixth ranked Vytautas (12-11) on Saturday night. Host Lietkabelis was defeated by Vytautas in a tough game in Panevezys 63-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lietkabelis. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lietkabelis won third quarter 19-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vytautas shot 18 for 24 from the free-throw line, while Lietkabelis only scored two points from the stripe. It was an exceptional evening for forward Vytenis Lipkevicius (196-89) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Saulius Kulvietis (206-91) accounted for 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) came up with 19 points and Australian swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Lietkabelis in the defeat. Lietkabelis' coach Kazys Maksvytis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vytautas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Neptunas. Lietkabelis at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Vytautas will play against Nevezis (#9) in Kedainiai in the next round. Lietkabelis will play at home against Lietuvos rytas (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
