Sanjoanense has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Belenenses CF (2-2) 74-61 on Saturday. Sanjoanense dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Belenenses CF's 14. They outrebounded Belenenses CF 39-26 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Pedro Azevedo (193-81) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds and Swedish-American forward Elias Desport (203-92, college: St.Peter's) who added 12 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Sanjoanense's coach Augusto Almeida used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side swingman Ricardo Rosa (193-92) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Jose Torres (182-91) scored 13 points. Sanjoanense (1-3) left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place in Places 9-16, which they share with Fisica. Loser Belenenses CF keeps the twelfth position with two games lost. Sanjoanense will face higher ranked Guifoes (#13) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
