Regular Season Round 24: Ormanspor - Mersin Gelisim 70-66

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Ormanspor (20-4) defeated 9th ranked Mersin Gelisim (14-10) in Ankara 70-66 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a good game for Nigerian-American center Aisha Mohammed (191-85, college: Virginia) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Nihan Demirkol (172-92, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American center Nadia Parker (191-87, college: USC) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and the former international Fahriye Bayraktar (185-95) added 19 points in the effort for Mersin Gelisim. Ormanspor have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 20-4 record having just two points less than leader Bornova. Loser Mersin Gelisim dropped to the eighth place with ten games lost. Ormanspor will face Orduspor (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mersin Gelisim's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Mersin Mersin Kurtulus.
