TKBL top team - Bornova (22-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked Izmit (18-6) 69-60. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Izmit. Bornova forced 19 Izmit turnovers and outrebounded them 46-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a quality performance of forward Duygu Firat (189-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 20 rebounds and point guard Ilsu Daricioglu (167-83) who added 14 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Bornova players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Whitney Jones (183-87, college: Arkansas, agency: LBM Management) with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and Gulizar Sezer (-78) scored 22 points and 4 steals. Izmit's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bornova have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-2 record. Newly promoted Izmit keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Bornova will play against Istanbulgucu (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Izmit will play against Anadolu Univ. (#19) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
