Regular Season Round 18: Azovmash - Dnipro-2 73-60

Not a big story in a game in Mariupol where one of their biggest challengers Dnipro-2 (10-12) was defeated by second ranked Azovmash (14-8) 73-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Azovmash. Dnipro-2 was better in fourth quarter 17-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Dnipro-2 50-28 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Kirilo Zuev (193-93) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Oleksiy Momotenko (203-92) chipped in 8 points and 16 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Olexandr Tarasenko (199-96) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Ihor Dubonenko (193-98) added 17 points and 4 steals respectively. Dnipro-2's coach Oleksandr Muntian rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Azovmash maintains second position with 14-8 record having four points less than leader Zolotoi Vek. Newly promoted Dnipro-2 dropped to the third place with 12 games lost. Azovmash will face SumDU (#5) in Sumy in the next round.
