The game in Gruenberg was also quite interesting. 7th ranked B.Loewen (7-10) played at the court of eighth ranked Baskets Grunberg (8-9). Baskets Grunberg managed to secure a 7-point victory 89-82 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But B.Loewen won second period 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baskets Grunberg forced 22 B.Loewen turnovers. American swingman Sarah Olson (173-93, college: Monmouth) stepped up and scored 28 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and swingman Isabell Meinhart (178-94) chipped in 16 points. Four Baskets Grunberg players scored in double figures. Baskets Grunberg's coach Ritz Ingram allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Catrina Green (188-92, college: Gardner-Webb) responded with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and center Viktoria Jaeger (184) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Baskets Grunberg moved-up to sixth place in North, which they share with Opladen. B.Loewen lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Baskets Grunberg will meet at home higher ranked Krofdorf/Gleib. (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. B.Loewen will play against Osnabruecker and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
