Ninth-ranked CD Torres N. (3-11) used its home court advantage to challenge sixth ranked CAB Madeira (9-5) in Torres Novas. The visitors from Funchal managed to secure only one-point victory 73-72. However their fans expected easier game. Strangely CD Torres N. outrebounded CAB Madeira 43-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. American forward Maria Blazejewski (185-91, college: L.Superior) stepped up and scored 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import point guard Chelsie Schweers (170-89, college: Chris.Newport) chipped in 20 points. American swingman Norianna Haynes (178, college: Alcorn St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and Brazilian forward Gabriela De-Paula (180-96) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Four CD Torres N. players scored in double figures. CAB Madeira moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Benfica. CD Torres N. at the other side keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Ovarense. CAB Madeira will play against league's second-placed Uniao Sportiva in Ponta Delgada in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CD Torres N. will play on the road against AD Vagos (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
