Regular Season Round 17: Braunschweig - Osnabruck SC 39-66

Date: February 12, 2017
There was no surprise when 11th ranked Braunschweig (3-14) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Osnabruck SC (12-5) 66-39 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Osnabruck SC. Braunschweig was better in third quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Braunschweig to just 4 points in fourth quarter. Osnabruck SC held Braunschweig to an opponent 23.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 31.6 percent accuracy of the winners. The best player for the winners was Swedish forward Mikaela Gustafsson (188-93, college: Maine) who scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Montenegrin forward Milica Milosev (186-93, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 18 points. Osnabruck SC's coach Mario Zurkowski felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Felicia Barron (170-90, college: Quinnipiac) produced 9 points and 9 rebounds and forward Suska Berger (187-85) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The victory was the third consecutive win for Osnabruck SC. They moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Neuss. Loser Braunschweig keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Osnabruck SC will face TG Neuss (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Braunschweig will play against the league's second-placed Goettingen (#2) and hope to win that game.
