Regular Season Round 17: Botas - Galatasaray 77-74

Important game to mention about took place in Adana. Seventh ranked Botas (9-8) saved a 3-point derby victory at home edging second-ranked Galatasaray (13-4) 77-74 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Galatasaray. Botas dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Galatasaray's 38. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American guard Odyssey Sims (175-92, college: Baylor) nailed 23 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and Czech center Petra Kulichova (198-84) accounted for 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Botas players scored in double figures. Latvian center Kristine Vitola (193-91, college: UTEP) came up with 19 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Moriah Jefferson (170-94, college: Connecticut) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively for Galatasaray in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Botas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Botas will play against Girne Univ. (#12) in Lefkosa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Yakin Dogu BGD.
