A very close game took place in Chemnitz between Fireballs and ChemCats Chemnitz. Sixth ranked Fireballs (8-9) got a very close victory on the road over 11th ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (5-12). Fireballs managed to escape with a 2-point win 93-91 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. American forward Ali Forde (188, college: Idaho) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and French guard Cyrielle Recoura (172-91) accounted for 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Fireballs players scored in double figures. American guard Maegan Conwright (173-92, college: Florida St.) came up with 36 points (!!!), 6 assists and 4 steals and the other American import forward Merritt Hempe (190-94, college: Georgia) added 23 points and 11 rebounds respectively for ChemCats Chemnitz in the defeat. Newly promoted Fireballs maintains sixth place with 8-9 record, which they share with Hannover. ChemCats Chemnitz lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Freiburg. Fireballs will meet at home Hannover (#7) in the next round. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against TH Wohnbau Angels in Noerdlingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
