Regular Season Round 17: Goettingen - Krofdorf/Gleib. 85-72

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Goettingen (14-3) defeated at home 5th ranked Krofdorf/Gleib. (9-8) 85-72 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Goettingen. Krofdorf/Gleib. was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Goettingen looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Trinidad and Tobago center Verdine Warner (196-92, college: Shaw) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). American swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) chipped in 22 points, 5 assists and 6 steals (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Four Goettingen players scored in double figures. Goettingen's coach Giannis Koukos used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Chelsea Small (185, college: Indiana St.) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Roos Hof (183-94) added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Goettingen maintains second place in North with 14-3 record having just seven point less than leader Wolfenbuettel. Newly promoted Krofdorf/Gleib. keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Goettingen will face Braunschweig (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Krofdorf/Gleib. will play against Baskets Grunberg (#6) in Gruenberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
