Very important is a home loss of third ranked Edremit (19-6) against sixth ranked Mersin Uni (18-7) on Tuesday night. Host Edremit was defeated by Mersin Uni in Balikesir 85-74. Mersin Uni dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Edremit's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American center Sasha Goodlett (195-90, college: Georgia Tech) nailed 32 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Merve Uygul (170-88) accounted for 22 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Betul Pehlivan (178-88, agency: LBM Management) came up with 19 points and 5 assists and American guard Danaejah Grant (175-94, college: St.John's) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for Edremit in the defeat. Four Edremit players scored in double figures. Edremit's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mersin Uni have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 18-7 record. Edremit at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Izmit. Mersin Uni will play against Ferko Ilgaz (#12) in Kastamonu in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Edremit will play on the road against Edirne (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
