Regular Season Round 25: Ferko Ilgaz - Cankaya 83-80

A very interesting game took place in Kastamonu. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Cankaya (18-6) to twelfth ranked Ferko Ilgaz (12-13) 83-80 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Cankaya. Ferko Ilgaz players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Neslihan Ozkan (-93) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Ozlem Ozturk (174-92) contributed with 12 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Ferko Ilgaz players scored in double figures. Ferko Ilgaz's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Hande Celebi (-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Azerbaijani center Marcedes-Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh) added 26 points in the effort for Cankaya. Ferko Ilgaz moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Urla BLD and Orduspor. Cankaya at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Ferko Ilgaz's next round opponent will be higher ranked Mersin Uni (#6) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cankaya's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ankara TED Ankara.
