Regular Season Round 24: Svendborg - Bakken 85-97

Date: February 14, 2017
An interesting game for Bakken (17-3) which played road game in Svendborg against 4th ranked Svendborg (11-12). Second ranked Bakken managed to get a 12-point victory 97-85. The game was mostly controlled by Bakken. Svendborg managed to win second period 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bakken dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Svendborg's 44. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American-Trinidad and Tobago guard Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-93, college: Illinois St.) who scored that evening 31 points and 5 assists and Estonian forward Kristjan Kitsing (205-90, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Bakken's coach Jakob Freil used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Cameron Jones (193-93, college: Radford) did not help to save the game for Svendborg. His fellow American import point guard Stefan Bonneau (177-87, college: LIU Post) added 18 points. Four Svendborg players scored in double figures. Bakken have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Horsens IC. Svendborg lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with 12 games lost. Bakken will meet at home SISU (#6) in the next round. Svendborg will play against the league's leader Horsens IC in Horsens and hope to secure a win.
