Important game to mention about took place in Lefkosa. Twelfth ranked Girne Univ. (5-13) saved a 3-point derby victory at home edging higher ranked Botas (9-9) 79-76 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Botas. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Courtney Williams (173-94, college: S.Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Cappie Pondexter (175-83, college: Rutgers) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Odyssey Sims (175-92, college: Baylor) who recorded 29 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and point guard Natasha Lacy (178-85, college: UTEP) added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists respectively. Girne Univ. moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Botas dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Girne Univ. will face league's second-placed Yakin Dogu BGD in Istanbul in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
