Regular Season Round 18: Mersin MBK - Istanbul Univ. 46-80

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Istanbul Uni (10-8) smashed on the road 11th ranked Mersin MBK (4-13) 80-46 on Saturday. Istanbul Uni looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Bosnian-Serbian guard Sasa Cado (178-89) who scored 25 points and 4 assists. American forward Jordan Hooper (188-92, college: Nebraska) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Istanbul Uni players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Michelle Snow (196-80, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Rana Derin (175-92) added 4 points and 9 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Istanbul Uni moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hatay. Mersin MBK lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Istanbul Uni will face higher ranked Galatasaray (#4) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mersin MBK will play on the road against Samsun (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
