Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked ALBA Berlin (15-8) beat at home 10th ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (10-12) 84-70 on Sunday. ALBA Berlin looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. EnBW Ludwigsburg was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Canadian guard Carl English (195-81, college: Hawaii) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. International swingman Niels Giffey (200-91, college: Connecticut) helped adding 14 points. Five ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. American power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 9 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Drew Crawford (196-90, college: Northwestern) scored 10 points. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. ALBA Berlin maintains fifth place with 15-8 record. Loser EnBW Ludwigsburg dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. ALBA Berlin will face BG Goettingen (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. EnBW Ludwigsburg will play against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#11) and hope to win that game.
