Regular Season Round 23: Klosterneuburg - Wels 56-74

No shocking result in a game in Klosterneuburg where fourth ranked Raiffeisen Wels (11-9) defeated bottom-ranked Dukes (4-17) 74-56 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Raiffeisen Wels. Dukes managed to win fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dukes to just 7 points in second quarter. Raiffeisen Wels made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Dukes turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard DeJuan Wright (190-88, college: FIU) who scored 14 points and 4 assists. Czech center Ales Chan (215-80, college: Seton Hill) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. International center Jozo Rados (208-93) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Jurica Blazevic (199-94, agency: Interperformances) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Raiffeisen Wels maintains fourth place with 11-9 record. Dukes lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Raiffeisen Wels are looking forward to face Furstenfeld Panthers (#6) at home in the next round. Dukes will play against UBSC Graz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
