LPB top team - FC Porto Ferpinta (18-3) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat sixth ranked Illiabum (12-9) in Ilhavo 81-67. FC Porto Ferpinta made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. FC Porto Ferpinta outrebounded Illiabum 35-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American-Liberian guard Thomas Bropleh (196-91, college: Boise St., agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Serbian power forward Sasa Borovnjak (206-89, college: Penn St., agency: 011 Sports) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four FC Porto Ferpinta players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Nikola Tadic (206-88) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds and the former international Augusto Sobrinho (188-85) added 15 points in the effort for Illiabum. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FC Porto Ferpinta have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-3 record. Illiabum lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with CAB Madeira. FC Porto Ferpinta is looking forward to face Maia Basket (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Illiabum will play against Vitoria SC (#3) in Guimaraes and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
