Regular Season Round 18: Weiterstadt - Wasserburg II 63-71

There was an upset when higher ranked Weiterstadt (7-9) lost at home to tenth ranked Wasserburg II (3-13) 71-63 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-63. Wasserburg II forced 22 Weiterstadt turnovers. It was a good game for American point guard Cassie Peoples (168-92, college: Florida) who led her team to a victory with 33 points (!!!), 5 assists and 4 steals. The other American import forward Liz Wood (178-93, college: Maine) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Kristin Annawald (184-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and guard Christina Krick (169) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Weiterstadt. Weiterstadt's coach Conrad Jackson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Wasserburg II maintains tenth position in South with 3-13 record. Loser Weiterstadt keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Wasserburg II will face higher ranked Friendsfactory Germering (#8) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
