There was no surprise when 13th ranked BG Goettingen (8-15) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Science City Jena (10-12) 102-92 on Sunday. Science City Jena made 30-of-38 free shots (78.9 percent) during the game, while BG Goettingen only scored twelve points from the stripe. Science City Jena looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. BG Goettingen was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Stephan Haukohl (205-93) helped adding 24 points and 7 rebounds. Science City Jena's coach Bjoern Harmsen used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American power forward Scott Eatherton (203-91, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import swingman Alex Ruoff (198-86, college: W.Virginia, agency: Inception Sports) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Science City Jena. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ludwigsburg and Giessen 46ers. BG Goettingen lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Science City Jena will face higher ranked BBC Bayreuth (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
