Regular Season Round 24: Chemnitz - Hamburg 77-66

Date: February 19, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Hamburg (10-14) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Chemnitz (16-7) 77-66. Chemnitz had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American power forward Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). The other American import point guard Virgil Matthews (190-83, college: Montana) contributed with 12 points and 7 assists for the winners. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Chemnitz's coach Rodrigo Pastore used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American guard Rod Camphor (191-92, college: SW Oklahoma St.) replied with 21 points and point guard Anthony Canty (183-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Hamburg. Five Chemnitz and four Hamburg players scored in double figures. Chemnitz maintains fourth position with 16-7 record. Hamburg at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with 14 games lost. Chemnitz's next round opponent will be higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#3) at home and it may be the game of the week. Hamburg will play against the league's leader Mitteldeutscher BC (#1) in Weissenfels and hope to win that game.
