Top ranked Fenerbahce (14-4) recorded its fourth loss in Istanbul on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Abdullah Gul (13-4) 79-74. Abdullah Gul looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Chelsea Gray (180-92, college: Duke) who scored 26 points and 6 assists. Belgian center Ann Wauters (194-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Shekinna Stricklen (187-90, college: Tennessee) who recorded 20 points and 6 rebounds and international point guard Birsel Vardarli (175-84) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Abdullah Gul have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Defending champion Fenerbahce still keeps top position with four games lost. Abdullah Gul are looking forward to face Hatay (#5) at home in the next round. Fenerbahce will play against Adana ASKI (#7) in Mersin and is hoping to win this game.
