Regular Season Round 18: Freiburg - Keltern 69-67

The most exciting game of round 18 in the DBBL took place in Freiburg. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Gruner Stern Keltern (15-3) to tenth ranked Eisvogel Freiburg (6-12) 69-67 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Gruner Stern Keltern. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-17. But Gruner Stern Keltern won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Center Nadjeschda Ilmberger (190-96) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian guard Jovana Vukoje (174-86) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Quenese Davis (170-88, college: San Diego St.) with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Belgian Emmanuella Mayombo (170-92, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Eisvogel Freiburg moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Chemnitz and Donau-Ries. Gruner Stern Keltern at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Eisvogel Freiburg is looking forward to face higher ranked SV Halle Lions (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gruner Stern Keltern will play against Fireballs (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
