Regular Season Round 21: Aistes-LSU - Ukmerges 80-67

There was no surprise in Kaunas where 7th ranked Ukmerges (2-19) was defeated by fifth ranked Aistes-LSU (8-12) 80-67. The game was mostly controlled by Aistes-LSU. Ukmerges was better in fourth quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aistes-LSU forced 19 Ukmerges turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Aistes-LSU brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. It was a good game for Gintare Paulauskaite (185-95) who led her team to a victory with 17 points and 5 assists. Guard Dovile Saurazaite (174-92) contributed with 15 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Monika Petrauskaite (182-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Martyna Petrenaite (181-98) added 23 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Ukmerges. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aistes-LSU maintains fifth place with 8-12 record. Newly promoted Ukmerges stay dead last with 19 lost games. Aistes-LSU will play against league's leader Suduva in Marijampole in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ukmerges will play at home against Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
