Regular Season Round 15: Suzirja - Tavriyska Zirka 59-45

Bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zivka (0-17) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 59-45 loss to fifth ranked Suzirja (11-8) in Rivne on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 59-45. Suzirja dominated on the defensive end, holding Tavriyska Zivka to just 3 points in second quarter. They also forced 23 Tavriyska Zivka turnovers and outrebounded them 50-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for Liudmila Spyrydonova who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Nataliia Smaliuk (170-97) helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Margarita Glebova with 17 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Mariya Tkach (180-92) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Suzirja. They moved-up to fourth place. Tavriyska Zivka lost their seventeenth game in a row. They still close the standings. Suzirja will meet Dynamo-NPU (#5) in the next round. Tavriyska Zivka will play against the league's leader Tim-Scuf (#1) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
