Regular Season Round 23: Telekom Bsk - Bayreuth 101-94

The most shocking disappointment of round 23 in the BBL was a road defeat of 4th placed BBC Bayreuth (15-6) to seventh ranked Telekom Baskets (13-8) 101-94. Telekom Baskets shot 67.3 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Julian Gamble (208-89, college: Miami, FL) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Josh Mayo (181-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) helped adding 25 points and 6 assists. Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and American Nate Linhart (201-86, college: Akron) scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Telekom Baskets and five BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. Telekom Baskets have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. BBC Bayreuth at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Telekom Baskets are looking forward to face Walter Tigers (#12) in Tuebingen in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BBC Bayreuth will play at home against Science City Jena (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
