There was no surprise when 9th ranked Mersin Gelisim (15-12) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Cankaya (20-6) 60-52 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American-Azerbaijani center Marcedes-Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds. Gulsah Celebi (-85) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Nadia Parker (191-87, college: USC) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds and the former international Fahriye Bayraktar (185-95) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Cankaya maintains fourth place with 20-6 record. Loser Mersin Gelisim keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Cankaya will face Orduspor (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
