Regular Season Round 15: Avangard - Tim-Scuf 72-77

Date: February 25, 2017
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Avangard (16-2) in Kyiv on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Tim-Scuf (17-1) 77-72. It ended at the same time the 15-game winning streak of Avangard. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 25-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Avangard helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international center Miriam Uro-Nile (188-94, agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. The former international forward Olga Krasnikova (182-84) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Tim-Scuf players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Ievgeniia Spitkovska (174-88, agency: LBM Management) who recorded 24 points, 6 assists and 6 steals and international center Olga Yatskovets (183-97) added 23 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Avangard's coach Volodimir Kholopov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tim-Scuf have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Avangard at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the second place with two games lost. Tim-Scuf are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zivka (#9) in Kherson in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Avangard will play on the road against Interkhim (#3) in Odessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
