The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Herner TC's (10-9) road loss to fourth ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (12-7) 57-66. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 16-13 Herner TC's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 66-57 at the end of the game. BC Pharmaserv Marburg brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a very good performance for the former international power forward Svenja Greunke (188-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Austrian power forward Julia Koeppl (184-91, college: Dowling) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Sonja Greinacher (190-92, college: Gonzaga) answered with 17 points and international swingman Ireti Amojo (176-90, college: Washington St.) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Herner TC. Herner TC's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for BC Pharmaserv Marburg. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Saarlouis. Herner TC at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against TV Saarlouis Royals (#4) on the road in the next round. Herner TC will play against ChemCats Chemnitz and hopes to get back on the winning track.
