There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Wasserburg II (4-13) won against at home 7th ranked Friendsfactory Germering (7-10) 81-73 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-73. Friendsfactory Germering was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American point guard Cassie Peoples (168-92, college: Florida) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Anna Heise (190-93, college: Maine) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Wasserburg II players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Magdalena von-Geyr (180-84) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Nicole Schmidt (168-89) scored 9 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Wasserburg II maintains tenth place in South with 4-13 record. Loser Friendsfactory Germering keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Wasserburg II will face ASC Theresianum Mainz (#11) at home in the next round.
