There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Kaiserslautern (9-12) beat at home 6th ranked Lich II (13-7) 68-60 on Sunday. Kaiserslautern forced 24 Lich II turnovers. American point guard Japhet McNeil (183-85, college: Bridgeport) fired 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Waldemar Nap (202-93) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. McNeil is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. The former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds and guard Nils Pompalla (178-85) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kaiserslautern have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position in South-West with 9-12 record. Newly promoted Lich II keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Kaiserslautern will face higher ranked Karlsruhe SC (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
